Whew. It's summer, and your thighs feel like they're 2 canned hams
warming up in the oven. They're greasy, you're greasy, and there's little relief to be had. You can get a
cold glass of water (or beer), splash some water on your face, put an ice cube on the back of your neck. You can go
swimming if you have a pool or live in an area, like we do, that has a community pool.
If you're naughty Uncle Fremont, you can also get nekked.
But what about your pets?
There are quite a few things on the market that help you with this dilemma; there
are aquarium chillers that now cost less than 150 dollars for small temperature decreases in aquariums around 60 gallons or
less, and those gel mattresses for cats and dogs are neat. However, if you'd like to give your animals a bit of
relief and don't feel like spending money, here are some suggestions. Here are things that I do for the dogs, the cats,
the guinea pigs, and the aquariums that help us avoid fish death or trips to the vet for heat stroke.
If you find Fido humping the fridge, chances are he's hot. Here's
some no cost tips to keep him cool and what heat stroke symptoms to look for.
Piggies are so susceptible to heat stroke that this page may be a life
saver for you, should you happen to own one or two of them. And it's got some pig-tures. Gratuitous piggy-cuteness.
You can't ask for more than that.
When it's really hot, don't forget that your aquarium might turn into
a pot of baccala if you're not careful!
......the kitties will be added soon......
