Investopedia Commentary
If your Internet connection is slower than a three-toed
sloth, it's probably because of a lack of bandwidth.
It is the amount of internet space that I have to post text and pictures
on this site as allotted to me by my wonderful web creation site, web.com. And, I really do appreciate these people.
Let's face it, I've only had this site for 12 hours and I've already figured out all this. I sense that monkeys were
used in the programming, which while it incurs my wrath because I love animals, also relieves me as the monkeys paved the
path for me ignorance. <-sarcasm Anyhoo, my space to use is finite unless I begin
to kick out more money. While I'd like to inform and entertain the masses, I don't want to pay for their image
hosting.
So, I'm asking you to not directly link to my website's photos because I can't
afford it. Is that OK? Will you at least think about it? There are other ways that you can link to a site,
and I'll share what I know instead of just telling you "NO! BAD KITTY! THAT'S MY POT PIE!"
You can use an image-hosting site like imagecave or sony imagestation for free.
Just right click on the photos you like and highlight the "properties" tag like you would elsewise, but do this to transfer
to your own hosting site. If you do this, you'll see how much space photos use. Now, do you see how it sucks when
a bunch of people might use my bandwidth to host the photo instead of their own? One photo stolen by one peep is one
thing. Forty peeps linking the the photo is another.
If you don't have an account with a free image-hosting site, you can just go to the
top of the page and click with your left click on the Address line, then right click on the highlighted text, scroll down
and left click on "Copy". You can copy the address tab and it won't bust my bandwidth.
When you you want to post it say, in a forum that has [url] tags, you can do this.....
Let's say that you like the picture of Gator and Eissa snuggling on the "Things Bulldogs Do That Make You Wonder" page. Go to that page and follow my instructions
for highlighting and copying the Address. You should find when you paste the following..
http://daphneszoo.com/id15.html
That's OK. If you are in a forum setting, hit the URL button and you'll see something
like this..[url]. Place the cursor in between the "l" and the "]". Type a "=" and the paste. It should look
like this..
[url=http://daphneszoo.com/id15.html]
After that, type whatever you'd like the link to be, like, let's say, "bulldog photo",
and then hit the [url] button again. It should look like....
[url=http://daphneszoo.com/id15.html]bulldog photo[/url]
And it will show up like bulldog photo. I'm
so lame that I haven't figured out how to make the above link work in html, but I will. You'll have to trust me that
this is how it works in most forums.
That's for forums and maybe a few emails. Is that java? Possibly so.
I'm kind of a newb with this.
Whatever. The point is that you can link people to the photo as far as the page
it's on in the same amount of time that it takes to do it the illegal way. Yeah, I know, illegal, but it is.
I think everyone does it. I know I've done it from time to time. But then
again, I didn't know what I was doing. Now that I've explained it to you, you do know. So, if you wouldn't mind,
use links to the pages or transfer to photos to your own image-hosting site, but dude, don't bogart my bandwidth.
